Intrinsically safe, the non-contact transmitter is believed be to the first pulse radar on the market available as a standalone unit, at a cost-effective price, with a better than ±1 mm accuracy.
Micropilot S covers the entire tank gauging market with consistent product line. It meets all requirements for custody transfer applications and has been approved by NMi, PTB and other international certification bodies. Having already sold over 100 000 radar level gauges, Endress+Hauser offers reliable, low maintenance continuous level measurement.
Measurement with Micropilot S is independent of product properties such as density, viscosity and dielectric constant, and compared to older mechanical systems, maintenance costs are virtually eliminated. The instrument also features a gas-tight feed through in the antenna, which is particularly important as a second line of defence against toxic or diffusive products.
Today, tank gauging systems are often integrated into standard instrumentation and control equipment, and a comprehensive concept of all systems components is increasingly important to reduce stock and maintenance costs. Micropilot S offers ATEX Ex ia conformity for hazardous area use - and with its modular concept, it is quite versatile.
Antenna programme
The parabolic antenna option is particularly suitable for free space measurement, while the horn or rod antenna is great for tanks with small nozzles - and its PTFE coating can handle aggressive substances. In stilling wells, the planar antenna has been specially designed to cope with product build-up and diameter changes eg, welds and tapers. It can be used as a retrofit at no additional expense. Micropilot S eliminates the need to remove tapered reducers, saving time and money. Complex calibration procedures are unnecessary, as the devices offer 'phase evaluation' of the reflected radar signal, allowing the diameter of the stilling well to be determined automatically.
Endress+Hauser's NRF 590 tank side monitor, together with Micropilot S, is an intelligent way for increased safety, integration and configuration. It offers a safe and simple wiring concept, providing intrinsically safe power at the tank side, reducing the possibility of incident or accidents and increasing plant safety.
With a multidrop, intrinsically safe HART loop, the Tank Side monitor can integrate a radar, an average temperature and water bottom (optional) sensor and as many as three pressure sensors. It supports various industry standard communication protocols that allow integration into open architecture tank gauging and inventory systems. This wide range of connectivity allows for a seamless migration of existing tank gauging equipment towards modern, no-maintenance radar technology.
Incorporating software Version 2.0, the NRF 590 has a 4-line alphanumeric display that provides driven step-by-step commissioning and plain English troubleshooting as standard. Its on-screen envelope curve allows analysis without a laptop, with measurement integrity confirmed by reference to an ideal echo curve. All devices are supplied with Endress+Hauser (ToF tool) software for simple commissioning, online help functions and detailed documentation of the measuring point.
