August 2005 Temperature Measurement

Reliable and accurate temperature measurements are important to ensure food safety. Subsequently, testo is offering a robust and precise thermometer, which is uncomplicated to use and hygiene-friendly making it suitable for the food and refrigeration sector.

Refrigerated and shelved food products need to remain within a specific temperature range. Additionally, hot foods need to be at particular temperatures when served to customers. It is, therefore, essential that it be consistently and accurately monitored to ensure that the quality remains at an optimal standard and is not hazardous to the customer's health. As hygiene and cleanliness are important factors in the food industry, instruments need to be protected from dirt as well as bacteria, which could contaminate the food.

The user-friendliness of the testo 110 is enhanced by its Auto-Hold function that automatically recognises a stable end value as well as easily accessed minimum and maximum values on its large two lined, blue backlit, display. An audible alarm has been integrated that is immediately triggered if high or low limit values are exceeded.

The food thermometer also permits printing the stored temperature data (with date and time) on-site. Consequently, monitored values can be documented, which is beneficial when receiving goods, since both supplier and recipient can be supplied with a record of the temperature data.

The instrument comes with a wide variety of fast and precise temperature probes and an optional 'TopSafe' indestructible protecting cover is available, this fits over the instrument and protects it from dirt, knocks and water. The cover's all-round protection stops food particles from becoming lodged in gaps in the housing. The cover is suitable for washing in a dishwasher, ensuring a hygienically protected instrument.
