Surge protection for electrical sockets

July 2005 Electrical Power & Protection Information Security

The Sockettrab BT-SKT 230 AC Class 3 surge protector from Phoenix Contact is suitable for all types of sockets around the world, regardless of the socket brand or type.

The module is saddled onto the socket insert and is barely visible with flush sockets or with standard flat sockets. The surge protector can be used with individual sockets or with multiple sockets. The module comes equipped with bridges for additional sockets. When used in single sockets, the insulated bridge can be shorted to the socket or simply pinched off.

The integrated varistors are thermally monitored. If the breaker is tripped as the result of frequent or excessive overvoltage, the arrestor is safely cut off from the mains current. The user is notified by an acoustic signal.
