NewElec's NJ Series motor protection relays offer multiple mounting options with all the protection features required to protect S1 rated TEFC lightweight LV metric motors. The relays provide remote fault indication and an analog input for a PLC with respect to motor loading.
Designed to protect motors in various LV applications from 5 to 550 A, the NJ Series relays offer overload protection for cyclic and sustained conditions, earth leakage, phase unbalance and phase loss protection. Locked rotor, jam and running stall conditions are also prevented.
Locally designed and manufactured, the relays' user-selectable cold curves range from Class 2,5 to 32,5 on a single dial. The hot curve value is limited at 30% of the selected cold curve with full thermal memory. In order to maintain Type 2 co-ordination NJ models block the main trip relay when earth leakage currents exceed eight times motor full load current.
Full restoration of fault indicating LEDs and the thermal capacity LED bar graphs are provided if the auxiliary power supply is lost after a trip. If required, percentage calibration is available in order to cater for higher amperages or standardisation purposes. The modular design of the NJ Series permits door, chassis or CT module block mounting.
The NJ Series is suitable for protecting conveyor motors with soft start or DOL starting, fan motors with extended run up time, crusher motors, compressor motors with cyclic loading, general motor protection requiring small footprint, motors with a hot start <10 s and compressor motors with cyclic loading.
