The compact FL IBS SC/I-T Factory Line gateway from Phoenix Contact is an economical way to connect Interbus Fieldbus systems with up to 512 participants to Ethernet. The bus system's high efficiency at transferring small data packets improves time relationships and reduces overall reaction times.
The gateway enables the integration of drives, operating and visualisation devices as well as sensors and actuators with the Interbus system. The process data is transferred to PCs and PLCs using Ethernet as an overlying communications network. The Ethernet interface takes the form of a 10/100 Base T(X) RJ-45 socket. The integrated SNMP Management Agent offers extensive diagnostics capabilities. Alternatively, device information can be displayed in a standard browser using the integrated Web server. Status and diagnostics LEDs give a quick overview of whether cables are correctly connected, what speed the gateway is operating at, and the frequency of collisions. They also provide basic system status information. A standard G4 master interface is used as the Interbus interface.
The universal device driver interface (DDI) is provided as the software interface for access via TCP/IP. DDI enables direct access to Interbus data from the application program. It is possible to exchange data with the Interbus OPC server using the OPC standard. As OPC clients, visualisation and scada tools can make use of flexible access to I/O data via the network.
