Non-contact thermometers accurate at low temperatures

The new low temperature radiation thermometers from Land Infrared, the System 4 M6, provide accurate non-contact temperature measurement from 0 to 700°C. Two models, M6 0/300C and M6 100/700C, are available covering the ranges 0 to 300°C and 100 to 700°C. Their 100 ms fast speed of response, coupled with a minimum target size of 3,5 mm and accurate sighting facility make the M6 thermometers ideal for a wide range of applications such as metal processing, glass lehr, food, paper, rubber and textiles. Optional lenses allow target sizes as small as 1 mm in diameter.
The M6 thermometers operate at the shortest practical wavelength of 3 to 5 µ (nominal) where there is sufficient energy at low temperatures to provide a reliable measurement.
By operating in this relatively short waveband M6 thermometers have inherently high sensitivity to changes in target temperature while minimising errors in measurement due to low or variable emissivity from highly reflective surfaces and background reflections. An additional benefit of these short wave length thermometers is that they are designed to completely avoid the effects of absorption and emission of CO2 and water vapour in the sight path.
M6 thermometers can be fully integrated with the Landmark Graphic, Classic or Basic processors from which they derive the necessary power supply and emissivity control signals. The processor acts as an interface for the thermometer, providing an industry standard 4 to 20 mA output signal for direct integration into any process monitoring, recording or control system.
