Gigavac, a specialist in high voltage relays, has developed its G13, a sealed DPDT (double pole double throw) 15 kV relay. With a height of 48 mm and width of 55 mm, the G13 easily handles high inrush current switching between power sources and loads.
The G13 is designed for mounting flexibility and simplicity of installation. It can be mounted in any position using either the jam nut supplied for through-chassis installation or the conveniently located mounting tabs on top. It comes equipped with 300 mm high-voltage fly leads. Custom length cables are also available to eliminate the need for special wiring.
In the past, switching 15 kV between power sources or loads had required the use of two double throw relays. The inexpensive G13, 15 kV DPDT relay replaces old relays and handles the high inrush current when switching occurs. The SF6 gas inside the G13 has many benefits; including high voltage stand-off capabilities that ionise during contact closure increasing the ability to switch high current inrush loads.
The G13 is a double pole, double throw (2 form C) configuration with standard or custom-length high voltage flying leads that make connection easy. Coil voltages are 12 V d.c. 26,5 V d.c. and 115 V d.c. or customised. The changeable coil feature allowing users to change the coil even after the relay had been installed.
Gigavac is based in Santa Barbara, California, and designs, manufactures and sells high voltage relays to manufacturers of test equipment, power supplies, and wafer fabrication. RF and communications equipment, MRI/medical equipment and others in need of high voltage relay solutions.
