New from German manufacturer, Vega, comes the series 60 Vegacal admittance probe, available with the plics (plug in concepts) programme. All electronics modules operate according to the 'phase selective admittance' principle. The Vegacal replaces the sensors from Vega's existing EK and EL (such as EL 21) series.
Admittance probes are robust and maintenance-free. Typical applications are in the chemical industry for continuous level measurement of liquids and solids in storage and process tanks, and for level detection in pump sumps. Depending on the application, the Vegacal sensor can be ordered either with the cable or rod version. It is also Ex approved, which means it can be used in a potentially explosive situation, and can withstand temperatures up to 200°C and pressures up to 6,4 MPa.
All the standard plics electronics that can be operated via Plicscom or device type manager (DTM) are available for the Vegacal probes. Plicscom is the universal programming, trending and display module that can be plugged into the instrument. Its high-resolution screen shows detailed trending and echo curves. The device type manager (DTM) is the instrument driver that allows communication via a standardised software program called Pactware.
E 18-based electronics is also available for connection to the Vegamet (a signal conditioning instrument). All electronics modules operate according to the 'phase selective admittance' principle.
