The demands placed on Ex enclosures are particularly high. For this reason, Rittal accepts no compromises, and adapts tried and tested enclosures concepts to meet the specific requirements of potentially explosive environments. The result is a series of Ex enclosures providing suitable conditions for applications in the chemicals and petrochemicals industries, in the offshore sector and in the foods industries. Rittal's KEL enclosures meet the ATEX 100a directive for applications in zone 1 and zone 2. The approval is achieved through certification.
The product range covers stainless steel wall enclosures with hinged doors, wall boxes with screwed down lids and GRP enclosures with graphite added to cut down on static, all of which now have the certification to meet the ATEX 100a. Empty enclosures are held in stock and populated ones are offered as terminal boxes on special lead times.
ATEX 100a is a product directive, which applies to manufacturers of equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres ensuring the supplied equipment is appropriate to the zones in which it is to be used, and facilitates the movement of goods across the EU by harmonising the product standard.
