CBI has announced the launch of its electrical wiring accessories product range, the 'CBI switch advantage'. This range of plugs, sockets, switches, cover plates and other wiring products extends CBI's influence past the circuit breaker into the home and office.
One of the novel features of the new switches is a fluorescent green insert that serves as a useful indicator light in a dark room. This characteristic is indicative of the contemporary design of the range, which successfully marries functionality with aesthetics. In addition, it is easily integrated into existing offices and homes.
Officially introduced to the trade on 3 February this year, the launch was preceded by an intriguing and colourful advertising teaser campaign in the trade press. Although acknowledging that the company is entering a well established market sector, Rudi Coetzee, commercial director of CBI, indicated that this was long overdue and believes that they have developed a range of products that is in keeping with the CBI's longstanding commitment to excellence, innovation, quality and cost effectiveness.
He says further, "The residential market for circuit breakers will reduce by around 30% in the next decade when Eskom completes its 'electricity for all' programme. From a strategic point of view it was important for CBI to extend its product offerings and the move to switches and wiring accessories was a natural one for the company to guarantee future growth."
The first phase of the 'CBI switch advantage' range was made available from selected stockists throughout the major centres from the middle of March; additional products will be announced in time.
