The rise of the PET bottle and the trend for mixed beverages has completely transformed the filling and bottling sector, leading to an increased demand for state-of-the-art, high precision flowmeters. Endress+Hauser's response to this is the launch of its high-accuracy, high-speed Dosimass (Coriolis) and Dosimag (electromagnetic) flowmeters.
With space at a premium in many line and rotary filling machines, Dosimass and Dosimag are lightweight and compact and, as such, specifically suit filling and bottling applications. Even in the most demanding process conditions where short filling intervals or small quantities are experienced, they produce reliable, repeatable results.
"Maintenance-free and 3A EHEDG certified, Dosimass and Dosimag are billed as being the perfect replacements for conventional piston-type bottlers. In addition, because they are suitable for both CIP and SIP cleaning, they are ideal for hygienic applications," explains Grant Joyce, marketing manager, Endress+Hauser.
In modern filling and bottling plants, high accuracy is essential to avoid product losses. Dosimass is suitable for such applications, as it measures mass flow or volume flow to suit specific requirements and with built-in temperature and density compensation, maximum repeatability is maintained at all times. Even the smallest quantities of certain products are expensive, and so precision flow metering is the key to future savings.
Dosimag and Dosimass devices both feature self-monitoring and diagnostic functions to recognise and overcome problems immediately and to keep plants running at optimum efficiency.

Editor's Choice Flow Measurement & Control
There are many processes where it is undesirable for the load to suddenly change quickly, for example in the paper industry. Examples of level control have involved reasonably fast tuning. An example of a level loop tuned this way and responding to a step change in setpoint is given.
