New gel-based range of pH probes for F&B

February 2005 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration

The new range of versatile pH testers is robust due to its unique fracture proof design, and also insensitive to dirt, protein and soiling on account of its original hole diaphragm and gel reference electrolyte. The testers are able to measure any liquid or semi solid material and come with a storage gel solution that does not leak - making it a suitable measuring instrument for the food industry.

In the food trade, pH measurement is essential for maintaining stable products and producing foods of a consistently high quality. Additionally, HACCP regulations deem pH as a standard control item for food safety.

On the food production line, pH instruments are put under harsh measuring conditions. As a result, the probes have a fairly short life span due to glass breakage. Additionally, they are sensitive to dirt, protein and soiling resulting in incorrect measurements. Furthermore, the storage solution often leaks! Therefore, probes are frequently vulnerable to drying out.

Testo, a European leader in portable measuring equipment, has now launched a range of pH measuring instruments used for efficient and accurate monitoring of all liquids and semisolid products in the food industry. The newly designed hole-diaphragm, gel reference electrolyte and low membrane resistance ensures that the pH probe is unaffected by dirt, protein and soiling.

A unique combination of a pH penetration tip and a temperature probe ensure accurate readings in all ambient conditions. This combination is embedded in fracture proof plastic, which contributes to the robust nature of the probe. Probes will last longer as glass breakage is almost impossible.

Furthermore, these instruments are easy to use due to their one button operation, which gives a fast, and stable reading of both temperature and pH on a clear two-line display.

Testo's new potassium chloride storage solution is a gel and not a liquid. Therefore, it cannot leak and the probes will not dry out and will last longer. The storage gel comes in a patented preservation cap, which clicks onto the probe after use.
