The range of Cerabar M pressure transmitters offered by instrumentation specialist, Endress + Hauser, has been expanded with the addition of a higher accuracy option, which was previously only available in the flagship pressure transmitter range.
Pressure is one of the most frequently measured variables in process engineering. This motivated Endress + Hauser to prioritise this area for future development. The company has three levels of segmentation to its pressure product range - the T, M and S product ranges. The T range has a non-linearity 0,5% of set span and is a low cost transducer. The M range (Cerabar M) has a non-linearity better than 0,2% of set span and comes with added features and functionality, such as turndown ratios and display options. The top tier S range of pressure instruments has a non-linearity 0,1% of set span and has the most functionality and, therefore, the highest price.
"Previously, if a customer required the non-linearity of 0,1%, we had no choice but to supply the premium priced Cerabar S," informs Endress + Hauser marketing manager, Grant Joyce. "Often, the added features and functionality of a Cerabar S were not required."
Now Endress + Hauser has the ability to offer the 0,1% non-linearity for applications where the functionality of a Cerabar S device is not required and, therefore, the cost to the customer is reduced. The Cerabar M PMC 41/45 and PMP 41/45 range of pressure transmitters is now available with a 0,1% non-linearity option. This positions the M range favourably against competitor products in terms of price/functionality. As a further development to the S-range, the New Generation Cerabar/Deltabar S has a standard non-linearity of 0,075%.
Existing benefits of the Cerabar M transmitter include an adjustable measuring range with a turndown ratio of 10:1, long-term stability better than 0,1%, the option of a dry capacitive sensor up to 4 MPa or piezoresistive metal sensor for measuring ranges up to 40 MPa, and analog, HART, or Profibus-PA electronics. In addition, all customary threaded, flanged and flush-mounted process connections are available. With its stainless steel housing, the Cerabar M fulfils all the special hygienic requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries. The polyester-epoxy coated aluminium housing has been field-proven in the process industry.
