New 1,3 megapixel CMOS area scan camera
December 2004
News
With its fast and compact 1,3 megapixel A622f camera, Basler Vision Components (Basler-VC) says that it is leading the trend toward 'Analog goes Digital'. The A622f has a global shutter and an IEEE 1394 interface. At its maximum 1280 x 1024 resolution, the camera can output up to 24 frames per second. By using the Area of Interest (AOI) feature, even higher frame rates are possible.
When an A622f camera is combined with the Basler BCAM 1394 Driver and a standard 1394 PC adapter board, it offers a lowcost, plug-and-play solution. The reasonable cost and ease of integration make these cameras particularly attractive to analog camera users considering upgrading to digital. In fact, the slim, compact shape of A622f cameras (29 mm x 44 mm x 65,7 mm) means that they will easily fit into the space occupied by many common analog cameras without major changes to the mechanical mounting system. A622f cameras also feature user definable I/O ports which add increased flexibility in industrial applications.
"By using specially selected components and employing outstanding electronic design, we achieved an image quality level that separates us from our competition. This camera's versatility makes it appropriate for use in a variety of target markets. And since CMOS technology does not have the blooming or smearing effect seen in many CCD cameras, it makes the A622f ideal for outdoor applications," said Dr Joachim Linkemann, Vision Components product manager. Prototype A622f cameras were available in October and full production release is scheduled for November 2004.
Basler-VC designs and manufactures advanced vision components for industrial users. Our products include colour and monochrome line scan and area scan digital cameras for high-speed and/or high-resolution applications. Product designs are driven by industry requirements offering easy interfacing, compact size, and a strong price/performance ratio.
