Successful lab and research seminar
September 2004
News
National Instruments (NI) recently launched the new version of Labview, 7.1, a significant upgrade to the family of Labview graphical development products. Boasting a wide variety of new features, NI South Africa decided to host seminars in Cape Town, and at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria, to educate customers, across the engineering and scientific spectrums, about these new technological advancements.
Gricha Raether, Labview product manager, based at NI headquarters in Austin, Texas, and Michael Hutton, branch manager of NI South Africa, co-presented these seminars. Gricha has been with National Instruments for more than six years, has managed the development of large projects in research and development, and has played an integral role in the launch of several others, including the release of Labview 7.1.
Detailed demonstrations were given on Labview FPGA, hardware based applications without the complexity of VHDL; Labview PDA, enabling engineers and scientists to build customised portable instruments for field measurements on a PDA; and Labview Real-Time, which enables users to build complex, deterministic realtime applications and target different hardware platforms.
"Our Labview user base has expanded by more than 100% over the past three years. This seminar exposed our users to some of the new features, such as the realtime capabilities included in the latest release of Labview," said Hutton. National Instruments will be hosting more technical seminars during 2004. The local toll free number is 0800 203 199.
