On 10 and 11 October, Caesars conference resort in Gauteng was the venue for another of Rockwell Automation's automation workshops. These events are an effective means of affording delegates the opportunity to get a real good look at the current state of the art to be had from Rockwell Automation.
Earlier this year, SA Instrumentation and Control had the pleasure of being invited to attend one of Rockwell Automation's Mini Automation Fairs in Durban. Unlike the usual confusion and hubbub that one is bombarded with at the larger organised events, this was relaxed and orderly.
Delegates were divided into groups and went through the different presentations in rotation. This system benefited both Rockwell and the visitors. Visitors even had the opportunity to participate in many of the demonstration exercises - and, of course, Rockwell Automation had a captive audience.
Lunch was served in a room containing a 16 m2 demonstration set-up of conveyors, lifts and sensors. There was buzzing and bleeping and whining, as the variable frequency drives did their thing. A lucky draw with some nice prizes ended the show. The concept works well, providing a win-win situation. The show-goers were guaranteed to see all that there is and have all their questions answered.
