It was Adroit's pursuit of excellence and its vision for the future that won the SPII 2000 award for industrial innovation on 24 August 2000. Held at the Spier Conference Centre outside Stellenbosch, Adroit Technologies was announced the winner by Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology, Ben Ngubane, for the Adroit 4.2 release.
"Project Adroit 4.2" entailed the development of DBAccess, OPC Client and Active Cluster features. Adroit 4.2 is a scada that is capable of interfacing between realtime information sources and databases that comply with Microsoft's universal data access method, OLEDB.
Bi-directional communication is enabled, which means that rows of data can be inserted, deleted or added from sources. This feature is already being used by Adroit's clients, including the SA Mint Company, Tubatse Ferrochrome and Voest-Alpine. Among other high-profile projects are the National Electricity Grid in the UK and the Orapa Diamond Mine in Botswana.
