Introducing Transition Networks' new RS485 remotely managed copper to updated RS422/485 converters for the Point System chassis fibre media converters. These products are a complete re-design to our old RS485-CF-0x series of converters.

The new product includes the following updated features:

* Standalone or Point System card form factors.

* Remote management of standalone converter.

* Single-mode transmissions distances up to 40 km.

The serial RS422/485 to fibre media converter allows you to extend the distance between serial connections with the use of fibre-optic cable. This full-featured converter operates in 2-wire mode for RS422 and either 2-wire or 4-wire mode for RS485 and supports full or half-duplex data transmission at speeds up to 1,25 Mbps.

These are suitable for linking a remote terminal to a host computer, connecting multiple devices, such as security scanners, POS devices, remote terminals and building access/alarming systems to a host computer. These converters are also suitable for campus or business environments where remote devices can be networked in either a point-to-point or point to multi-point configuration. Note that the new converters are not a direct replacement for the old RS485-CF-0x series - the different optical transmission wavelengths, and updated features have meant that the new products are not backward compatible with the old.
