Customer training earns top honours

Rockwell Automation customer trainer products, which form apart of global manufacturing solutions (GMS), have long been focused on improving customers' human assets. Recently, two top US training and technical communication organisations awarded customer training with top honours from competitions at the local and international level.

The American society for training and development (ASTD) awarded tailored training the 'training and development leadership award,' given in conjunction with Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio; and the society for technical communication (STC) awarded RSTrainer for RSLogix 5000 Software the 'international distinguished technical communication award.'

Tailored Training is a course-building tool containing more than 1300 independent learning modules. "With Tailored Training, customers are given a hands-on approach to the training delivered to their employees. Customers pick the products and technologies, the audience, the length, the scope, and even the language of the modules and supporting documentation. This flexibility allows for significant cost savings," says Brett Spindler, training and customer support manager (EMEA). "More relevant tasks means training transfers better and faster to the plant floor. Less time in the classroom means employees are back on the job sooner."

RSTrainer is the umbrella title of the Rockwell Automation suite of computer-based training (CBT) products. As RSTrainer customers have learned, Rockwell Automation CBT products can have a dramatic impact on developing and refreshing the skills employees need on the job and can result in an almost immediate return on investment.

The award-winning RSTrainer for RSLogix 5000 Software has detailed RSLogix 5000 software animations, in-depth software information, step-by-step demonstrations, interactive practice simulations, and links to invaluable reference materials. "RSTrainer was specifically designed to enhance the transfer of knowledge directly from the classroom to the job, and the self-paced format allows customers to learn at their own speed and focus on those job tasks that are relevant to their own product configuration and job requirements. The result is minimal time spent away from the plant floor, maximised instruction time, improved employee performance, and minimised training costs," Spindler concludes.
