Control Roadshow in the bush
July 2004
News
It is always a great treat for the 'city slickers' to get out into the bush and marvel at the peace and quiet that we so easily forget while trying to earn a buck (pardon the pun). Having The Control Roadshow in Phalaborwa (on one of the only golf courses in the world that boast wild animals on the fairways) is really a fantastic experience, especially as the exhibition registration desk is barely 30 metres from the course itself. Before and after the show you can always find some of the big city swingers trying their hand on these wild fairways. For some of us non-golfers however, we always feel a little cheated not being able to share in this world-renowned experience. A bit like being put into the seat of a formula one racing car and not being able to drive.
The show itself was again fully subscribed for this event with some exhibitors having to overflow out of the entrance foyer and into the garden. Hats off to Festo who even brought its own gazebo to house its exhibition display outside. Midday saw the show open to visitors, and produced a slow stream up to 15:00 then suddenly a crowd descended on the show and stayed to way beyond 18:00, when the show closed.
Impressions made
It is interesting to note the appreciation showed by senior management of the industry in this area who voiced their appreciation to suppliers who took the time and made the effort to visit the industry in Phalaborwa at such a comprehensive display of control equipment. The feeling was that these were the only companies that were interested in their business and would therefore be loyal to them. Certainly the Control Roadshow over the years has made its mark as a serious exhibition for serious instrumentation business where industry leaders meet to share applications and solutions. The Penmac shows do not attempt to confuse business with entertainment.
Exhibitors that travelled to Phalaborwa:
Adroit Technologies, Airtech, Anglo Allied Engineering, Asco/Joucomatic, AWR Smith Inst, Bürkert Contromatic, Endress+Hauser, Festo, Hanna Instruments, Ind Auto & Control, Innomatic, Instrotech, Laser Measurement, Loadtech, Mantech Electronics, Newco Instruments, Pall SA, PREI Instrumentation, RJ Programmable, RS Components SA, Temperature Controls, Tyco Valves & Controls, Wika, Yokogawa SA.
