Cost-effective programmable temperature transmitter

May 2004 Temperature Measurement

Novus is offering a new range of programmable temperature transmitters. These transmitters come in a head mount (TxBlock) and din-rail mount (TxRail) version and are programmable for various thermocouples, PT100 and 0-50 mV inputs.

The TxBlock and TxRail comprise a family of head mount and DIN rail mount transmitters for the most common temperature applications. One single model can be configured to accept all thermocouple types and Pt100 RTDs. The transmitters are available with a 0-10 V output or a 4-20 mA output. They can be powered by an external power supply of between 18 and 30 V and can be loop powered. There is also an isolated (TxIRail) version which is isolated between the sensor and the transmitted current/voltage.

All units are software configurable and configuration is very easy. The output of the transmitter is scalable to different input ranges. Input type, working range and output calibration can be achieved by means of a cable and an RS232 port from a PC.

Novus says that changing temperature transmissions with its range of transmitters is a lot cheaper than using other competing transmitters. The transmitters are competitively priced and of superior quality. Novus transmitters are exclusively distributed in South Africa by UniTemp.
