Controllers with self-tuning PID parameters
May 2004
PLCs, DCSs & Controllers
The Eurotherm Series 2000 controllers' self-tuning functions eliminate the need to calculate PID parameters manually, allowing the application to be set up quickly with ultimate control performance. Accuracy is assured due to their dual sensing technique that virtually eliminates thermocouple reference temperature errors and makes the controllers immune to changes in ambient temperature. Advanced digital signal processing eliminates the effects of drift and noise, minimising the need for re-calibration.
Each controller is tailored to provide individual control requirements and may be easily configured onsite to match the application. Control options range from simple on/off to PID with advanced overshoot protection. Menu driven operation provides easy and intuitive access to all controller functions, and monitoring alarms can be configured to operate relay outputs as well as indicating the problem on the display.
Series 2000 controllers and indicators maintain optimal process loop control as well as monitoring the process. Their advanced diagnostic features make it possible to report alarms for conditions such as broken, shorted or detached measurement sensor failures as well as load and contactor failure or over-current faults.
Three performance levels and four DIN panel sizes are offered with industry standard communication interfaces including Profibus, Modbus and DeviceNet for easy connection to supervisory computers and host control systems. Windows-based software allows the user to store and clone controller and indicator configurations, as well as commission the process control system.
