Shorrock Automation, specialists in AS-i technology, is again holding two-day AS-i Workshop and Training courses at its head office in Centurion.
Day one includes the history and theory of AS-i, data transfer principles, network topology, methods of addressing slaves and a summary of hardware components. Participants are introduced to the setting-up, configuration and maintenance of an AS-i network, setting-up of slave parameters via the network, faultfinding and troubleshooting procedures.
Day two introduces CoDeSys Version 2.3 PLC programming, visualisation and analog function blocks. Topics discussed include AS-i in conjunction with safety equipment, the versatility of 62 slaves per network and the ability to connect to higher order field busses via a gateway or remote controller/gateway.
Courses will be held on 22 and 23 June, 14 and 15 September and 7 and 8 December 2004. Interested parties should contact Andrew Kerr on 082 805 3024, or alternatively, Celia de Wit at Shorrock Automation on 012 345 4449 at least three weeks prior to the chosen dates. Due to candidates receiving personal attention from the instructor, numbers are limited, making it advisable to book well in advance. The cost of a two-day course is R2500,00 per person, which includes course material, lunch and refreshments.
