Two control system contracts for Associated Systems

Johannesburg systems integration specialist, Associated Systems, has been awarded two design, manufacture and installation contracts totalling R1,6 million.
The first involves the upgrade of the control system for the two MAN Turbo compressors at Harmony Gold Mine. Associated Systems are replacing the outdated controls with new Siemens and InTouch systems. They were previously responsible for the same type of upgrade at Beatrix Gold Mine.
A second successful contract award is for the control system for the tracking of final product at Assmang Cato Ridge. In the cabins of all moving vehicles handling the final product, a PLC, MMI, Radio Ethernet Hub and GPS (global positioning system) transducer will be installed. The main PLC controller will monitor and record the positioning of all vehicles and determine if vehicles are allowed to unload their selected cargo at pre-defined stockpiles. Realtime information will be made available to production.
