Dual PE launch for local scada developer

August 2003 News

In recent months, Adroit Technologies, developers of technologically advanced, 32-bit, open automation supervisory control and data acquisition (scada) systems, and Opus Business Reporting software celebrated the successful launch of the new Version 5 and Version 2.2 respectively, at the Boardwalk Conference Centre.

The PE launch of this complementary product set formed part three of a regional rollout, which was recently launched in Johannesburg and Cape Town with great success. Paul Geng, international sales manager for Adroit said, "Access to vital day-to-day operational information, such as that provided by the Adroit scada system and made adaptable by Opus Reporting software, is essential for companies who want to improve their flexibility and responsiveness to market demand."

Dave Wibberley, CEO of Adroit, kicked-off the morning conference with a talk on how to achieve operational excellence. He said that companies are being forced to refocus their strategies and maximise operational value and that industry leaders need to recognise that achieving efficiency and flexibility in manufacturing means taking best advantage of available technology to enhance their competitive position.

Built on the scalable and robust legacy of Adroit scada Version 4.2, market-driven improvements to Version 5.0 are the result of 24 months of product research coupled with Adroit's expansion into the building management market segment. Most notable functional enhancements to the core engine include a new Custom Agent and Project Explorer, which further enhance the scada's fundamental ease-of-use technology. Adroit also ships with an OPC Server Component to ensure the easy sharing of data with other OPC compliant process applications.

Opus Version 2.2 is a powerful information gathering and collation tool that also boasts market-driven improvements for use across a multitude of industry and business sectors. The new version has enhanced network browsing ability, improved scalability, report generating performance, speed and system security. Upgrades have been made to the report element of the product that reflect the market's requirements for simple effectiveness. Adding to its already extensive list of data sources from which the product can extract information, OPUS Version 2.2 is able to mine records from a Microsoft SQL stored procedure.

Wibberley comments, "We are always driven to meet and exceed the specific needs of our local market. As a Proudly South African company, we are pleased to be able to give South African operations what they have been asking for."
