The plight of South Africa's children affected by the HIV/Aids pandemic was heard by Grintek, which responded to the orphans of AIDS Trust's plea for much-needed financial support for the Durban-based home, St Philomena's.
The picture shows deputy mayor of Durban, councillor Logie Naidoo; Xinyamisi Shemane-Diseko – head of corporate affairs and communications, Grintek; Thandi Ngwenya – Group HR Specialist Employment Equity and Social Investment, Grintek; Dr Zweli Mkhize; KZN minister of health; Zoli Kunene – chairman, Grintek
The contribution comes at a time when millions of children all over the world continue to be orphaned by this epidemic and faced with an uncertain future. Through projects such as St Philomena's, these children are given the opportunity to continue their education, whilst at the same time being surrounded by the loving support of people who care. It was with this in mind that Grintek decided to support this project, in an effort to make a difference.
Grintek has committed R200 000 to this worthy cause over a three-year period, to ensure sustainability and ongoing support for the centre. The financial commitment will go towards the day-to-day well-being of the children and existing programmes at the home.
For more information contact Hloni Motloung, Grintek, 011 772 1000.
