ASi field modules with extended addressing mode
July 2003
PLCs, DCSs & Controllers
IFM Electronic is offering its new ClassicLine AC2514 series modules with extended addressing mode for field applications. Up to 62 slaves can be connected to one ASi master.
As all other ASi masters, the ClassicLine modules operate in the address range from 1 to 31. All controls and indicators are located on the front panel for easy access, and signal states, operating voltage and faults are indicated by LEDs. An electromechanical interface in the centre of the modules provides fast installation and reverse polarity protection. With a high output rating, output stages of the transistor are rated for triggering electromagnets up to 20 W to IEC 60947-5-2.
An additional LED on the module enables exact fault location, and when flashing red, the LED indicates a peripheral fault that implies either a short circuit of the sensor supply or an overload of the output. A communication fault is indicated by a permanently lit red LED.
The modules can be addressed either before installation with no voltage or via the classic FC/FC-E base with addressing socket or via the integrated infrared interface when mounted and wired. Only the handheld addressing unit, as well as the matching addressing cable are required.
The ASi ClassicLine modules can be used in a wide range of applications where distributed I/Os, modular design and system simplicity are important. The modules can be mounted either directly on the backplane, via two screw connections, or on a DIN rail for faster exchange. For modules with two or four inputs, a wired 'Y' circuit is used. IFM Electronic is represented locally by Shorrock Automation.
