At the present time, this is an urgent and essential problem to be considered at, for example, staging posts such as airports in an attempt to stop the spread of the disease. Protea is marketing a Land human body temperature monitoring system, which is a state-of-the-art infrared detector combined with electronic signal processing technology, to provide a high performance, compact thermal imaging camera for screening and body temperature measurement purposes at an attractive price.
Anyone with a higher-than-normal temperature, a SARS' condition, can be detected instantly when screened by the camera, particularly on the face. The thermal imaging system provides a thermographic image of human body temperature at a distance and comparing it with that of a precise blackbody calibration source at high speed - 30 frames per second - to provide an accurate measurement of body temperature. Thermal imaging is a fast, non-intrusive, non-contact means of detecting temperature radiance differences. The Land thermal imaging system, utilising a certified calibration source, is said to offer accuracy superior to other imaging camera techniques. At a detection distance of 3 m, the thermal imager's view field measures 900 x 700 mm.
