Richards Bay instrumentation
June 2003
News
New industries opening up in Empangeni have spread the business network wider in the north coast area than Richards Bay alone. New projects, extensions and upgrades all require the latest information on new and available technologies when it comes to control and instrumentation. On 8 May 2003 the Control Roadshow - hosted by Penmac - visited this northern area and this year centred the exhibition in the Empangeni region. The venue was the IMBIZO conference centre that is a relatively new venue with good facilities. Having a large contingency of Gautengers in the group; a capable, working airconditioner was high on the list when it came to selections.
The show was very well represented: from switches to software; solenoids to scada and visitors to the show gained a wealth of information on currently available technologies. In discussions with local users however, while very appreciative of the extensive displays, they did feel that the location was a little far from the core manufacturing facilities.
Exhibitors at the Empangeni Control Roadshow included displays from the following suppliers:
Adroit Technologies, Anglo Allied Engineering, Atlas Industrial Systems, Airtech, Autotech Weighing Systems, AWR Smith Process Instrumentation, Burkert Contromatic, Citect Africa, Danfoss, Endress + Hauser, Energy Metals, Ind Auto & Control, Instrotech, IPC Africa, Krohne, Lapp Cable, Laser Measurement, Loadtech, Mantech Electronics, National Instruments, Phoenix Contact, Pinnacle Inst., RJ Programmable Techniques, RS Components SA, Spectrum Communication, Temperature Controls, Thermo Ramsey, Vega, WIKA Instruments and a Technical Update presentation by the Profibus Usergroup.
Further roadshows scheduled for the remainder of this year include Secunda, East London, Port Elizabeth, Vaal Triangle and Nelspruit.
