UTi Worldwide has announced its sponsorship of the inaugural Supply-Chain Council - Southern Africa Conference and Exposition scheduled to take place in South Africa in August this year.
UTi, a global supply chain solutions provider, worked closely with the Supply Chain Council to facilitate the launch, late last year, of the southern Africa chapter of this independent, non-profit international organisation.
Peter Baker, divisional director marketing at UTi Worldwide, says that sponsoring this inaugural event is in line with the organisation's philosophy of facilitating ongoing improvements and advances in supply chain management systems and practices within South African industry.
"We believe that this first time event will provide the ideal platform for professionals to network, and share experiences and solutions," he says. "While there are industry-specific challenges, supply chain management principles remain the same and the cross-pollination of ideas can only benefit all involved. Experienced hands-on practitioners will offer delegates insight into the benefits of using the supply-chain operations reference-model (SCOR), and discussion will revolve around latest practices and strategies in supply chain management."
The Supply-Chain World-Southern Africa 2003 Conference and Exposition will be held at the Mount Grace Country House Hotel in Magaliesburg from 4 to 6 August 2003. The theme of the conference is 'Improving supply-chain performance in today's environment: leveraging your assets for competitive advantage'.
