Accurate measurement of fuel

Flow Measurement & Control
Through DLM, Isoil Impianti offers a wide range of accurate flow measurement solutions for the petrochemical and oil industry. These include positive displacement (PD) meters, control valves, strainer air eliminators and electronic control devices.
The Isoil PD meters are flowmeters designed for accurate and reliable flow measurement of a variety of liquids. The meter consists of a measuring chamber in which a rotor keeps turning by being pushed by the liquid itself. While the rotor is turning, the vanes, made of a self-lubricating material, are forced against the internal surface of the measuring chamber so that they are always touching it and consequently minimise product leakage, which is the main culprit of lack of accuracy.
The PD meters are available in sizes from 40 mm (11/2") to 250 mm (10"), single or double case in aluminium, cast iron, carbon steel or stainless steel 316. In order to achieve better flow measurement accuracy and to help minimise servicing requirements a good filtering system and air eliminator are recommended.
DLM also offers the Isoil digitally actuated control valve range for any flow regulation function, these include: One stage shut off, two or three stage shut off, non-return function, flow limiting, differential pressure control, pressure relief for by-pass, multistep preset valve. (The multistep digital version of this valve would need to be controlled by an electronic preset such as the Metermatic EM5-SPP100 also available from DLM.)
When loading fuels onto bulk delivery vehicles, grounding is the very first safety feature required. In order to avoid electro static charges and to grant the truck or rail tankers potential to be the same as the loading facility, an Isoil MT20/RC can be used during the loading or unloading operation.
The MT20/RC is an electronic device in an explosion proof housing which checks whether the clamp is correctly fastened. This is performed through a double test, both resistive and capacitive. Operation is only permitted when both checks are successful.
DLM is one of southern Africa's leading innovators in the engineering of over pressure protection; flow, level and density measurement; automation and control solutions. The company offers a comprehensive, technologically advanced range of products sourced from the world's leading manufacturers, providing optimum solutions in a wide range of industries. The company has seven branches countrywide - in Cape Town, East London, Pinetown, Rustenburg, Welkom and Vereeniging - in addition to its headquarters in Longmeadow, just outside Johannesburg.

Loop signature 29: Averaging or surge level control
Editor's Choice Flow Measurement & Control
There are many processes where it is undesirable for the load to suddenly change quickly, for example in the paper industry. Examples of level control have involved reasonably fast tuning. An example of a level loop tuned this way and responding to a step change in setpoint is given.
