Control valve sizing and selection courses

April 2003 Training & Education

Mitech's Control Valve Sizing and Selection courses are recommencing during April 2003 with various courses planned throughout the year. These two-day training courses will be held at Mitech's head office and at its branches in Secunda and Natal.

The courses are designed to inform instrument and mechanical engineers, technicians and consultants on the theoretical and practical aspects of Control Valve Selection. The course is ideal for those involved in maintenance work, planning and projects in the process industry.

The first day introduces participants to the basic elements. Topics include flow principles, Cv definition, a discussion on the various types of control valves available, recovery factors and choked flow problems. Cavitation, flashing, flow characteristics, the use of special trims, material selection, actuator sizing and the basic use of computers are also discussed.

The intermediate course, held on day two, includes hands-on training with a more in-depth look at control valve selection using a computerised sizing program.
