NewElec’s EC electronic motor protection relays monitor the insulation integrity of protected motor windings and feeder cable cores to earth while the motor is standing.
They are typically used in areas where use of plant and equipment is of a seasonal nature; where motors are subjected to hosing down, such as in abattoirs; where high condensation occurs in standby equipment; and in coastal areas. The selected lock-out relay model determines the minimum value of insulation level that is acceptable. If the insulation level to earth is below the permissible level, the main contactor is prevented from closing the circuit.
The relays isolate the measuring circuit from the main supply while the fused measuring circuit protects the relay against inadvertent damage caused by incorrect connections. The compact design allows for easy installation in flameproof enclosures, and the pluggable 11-pin base makes removal easy. They are suitable for use on cables and motors starting by DOL or Star Delta and have LEDs to indicate healthy or faulty status.
