Complete system solutions by Lapp

July 2015 Enclosures, Cabling & Connectors

The Lapp complete systems solutions service allows customers to utilise the company’s extensive product range of over 40 000 line items which are suitable for industry applications from connection and control to flexible robotic applications and data transfer. On some harnesses, there may also be a need to source third-party connector accessories; this is where the Lapp team excels with its extensive product knowledge and supplier base.

Ölflex Connect Cable

For over 30 years, Lapp’s dedicated and highly qualified team of engineers, technicians, sales and service personnel have been coming up with a customised assembled cable solution – from the design phase to the creation of the prototype, right through to production and quality control.

The comprehensive inventory of cables, connectors and accessories that have been developed, enable the company to respond quickly and flexibly to customer requirements – from ad hoc to large-scale projects – through state-of-the-art system solutions assembly sites around the world.

Cable solutions from A to Z

Lapp produces different cables for CNC machinery, switch boxes, control cabinets and electrical assemblies. The product range stretches from single and multi-core cables through to EMC-shielded cables, all of which can be fitted with a wide selection of crimp contacts, connectors and housings.

Glass fibre assembly

An expert system partner for sophisticated glass fibre connection technology, Lapp can supply glass fibre cable harnesses in a range of standard lengths and can manufacture, test and deliver special lengths very quickly. With the range of glass fibre cables and connectors users can put together their own individual assembly according to the exact needs and requirements using carefully selected components.

This service is predominantly used by customers for whom the acquisition of an assembly tool is not worthwhile or who do not have the required expertise. In short, with the Lapp Group as an expert partner, customers are free to focus on what they do best – the core business.

Premium quality spiral cables

When producing spiral cables, Lapp has a wealth of expertise at its disposal. Flexibility and durability are key factors for applications requiring long-term high performance; and it is also crucial to have the appropriate insulation and the right conductor material. Important features of spiral cables include:

• PUR or rubber outer sheath to withstand high mechanical stress.

• Extension lengths of up to 3.5x.

• A variety of cable cross sections.

Ölflex Connect Servo

As a leading manufacturer of assembled servo cable systems, Lapp offers all of the most popular servo standards for use in varied areas in industrial machinery and drive systems. With assemblies produced in the company’s own facilities around the world, international manufacturing excellence and a tight-knit global network of servo assembly facilities ensures high availability of stock and a consistent quality.

From the cost-effective basic line servo solution for applications free of aggressive environmental influences, to the core line that is specially designed for dynamic applications, right up to the highly dynamic extended line – the Lapp Group offers the right solution for every requirement. All of its servo cables are put through their paces at the company’s own laboratory with the application site in mind – for maximum quality, reliability and safety. Focus markets include:

• Machine tools.

• Packaging machines.

• Wood processing equipment.

• Industrial machinery.

• Material handling.

All major industry standards for drive systems and industrial machinery can be catered for, including: Ölflex Connect Servo according to Siemens standard; Ölflex Connect Servo according to Indramat standard; and Ölflex Connect Servo according to Lenze, SEW standard.

Ölflex Connect Chain

When it comes to assembled drag chains, users can benefit from Lapp’s extensive know-how and many years of experience. Its system engineers know their components right down to the smallest detail, but also have in-depth understanding and application knowledge.

There is space in even the smallest chain – and these specialists have an exact knowledge of all product specifications and make sure that everything runs perfectly for the given application. The following steps are implemented to engineer the path to the perfect solution:

1. Technical evaluation.

2. Initial CAD design of the drag chain system (including cable layout).

3. Project management.

4. Completion of chain system design.

A system chain package solution from Lapp can include any or all of the following:

• Cable drag chains in nylon or steel design in accordance to application requirements.

• Highly flexible power, control, signal and data network cables including accessories (cable lugs, connectors, etc.).

• Protective cable conduits with conduit glands.

• Hydraulic hoses with fittings.

• Pneumatic hoses.

• Towing arms or other functional units.

• CAD drawing of your chain including cable layout (optimal placement and separation of all energy lines in a chain).

• Testing including comprehensive test report.

• Individual installation instructions.

Built on deep expertise in cable technology, Lapp has the capabilities to specify the right drag chain for the protection of the cable within any application – from light duty nylon chain to steel or a combination of nylon and steel.

The advantages of an integrated cabling solution all from one supplier

• Reliable cutting-edge technology: Lapp prides itself on high-quality components, maximum functionality and long service life.

• Guaranteed brand quality: Systems are tested extensively and delivered with a comprehensive system guarantee.

• Availability at short notice: For components and cables of all performance classes.
