Moisture content varies widely in raw materials, and at different points in the production process, so non-contact moisture measurement is essential for achieving an outstanding final product. NIR (near infrared) technology is used as the state of the art process in measuring moisture content within a product and MoistTech manufactures a NIR sensor that cannot only measure moisture content, but also thickness and temperature if needed – all in one sensor.
Unlike other instrumentation of this type, the IR3000 is insensitive to material variations such as particle size, material height and colour, and gaps in product flow. The sensors are one-time calibration, maintenance free with a non-drift optical design allowing operating personnel to make immediate process adjustments based on real-time measurements.
The instrument is ideal for all installation locations including belt, screw and enclosed conveyers, chutes, cyclones and bins, dryer input/output, webs, and pipeline or pneumatic conveying. The sensor(s) can be located throughout the process and directly connected to the user’s PLC or any laptop. Ethernet and 4-20 mA are included as well as the high-tech Windows operating software with the purchase of a sensor. Typical applications include:
