Eco drive for advanced control in the HVAC sector

November 2016 Motion Control & Drives

“The new LTP-B Eco HVAC drive is a clear example of SEW-Eurodrive responding to specific customer requirements,” comments national sales manager Norman Maleka. “While we do have general-purpose units for fans, pumps and even conveyors, we have now decided to focus on this particular industry and application.

“Building designers are always the first adopters of new technology such as this. We are quite active in the HVAC sector in Cape Town, for example, and realised that we had to rise to the challenge of meeting the needs of this specific sector.”

What distinguishes this purpose-built drive is the fact that different parameters can be set, such as for fan or pump control. “This allows our customers to realise the full energy-efficiency benefits of different functions,” explains Maleka.

In terms of a commercial building such as a hospital, traditional drives meant that fans had to operate continually at full speed. With the improved functionality of the LTP-B Eco HVAC drive, facilities managers can now control a fan and only run it according to the demand. This represents a major advantage in terms of energy-saving, as it allows for total flow control.

“Our philosophy is to supply innovative products with easy-to-use features that maximise time and cost savings for our clients,” stresses SEW-Eurodrive South Africa MD Raymond Obermeyer. “Innovation, tradition and customer focus are the cornerstones of our business.”

The new LTP-B Eco HVAC drive was officially launched at Electra Mining Africa 2016, where the company unveiled a range of new products under its ‘The Future Starts Now’ campaign.
