SMC Pneumatics showcase success at Electra Mining 2016

Having officially opened its doors in South Africa earlier this year, SMC Pneumatics South Africa demonstrated the capability of its extensive range of offerings to the broader industry for the first time at Electra Mining 2016.
True to its customer-centric culture and innovative nature, having been voted on the Forbes Magazine most innovative company list for three consecutive years, SMC Pneumatics wowed visitors with an impressive product range capable of matching an array of industry applications.

Visitors were able to experience local hospitality and expertise matched with Japanese quality and an impressive stand layout. The SMC exhibit at Electra Mining was home to 17 demonstration units, once again showcasing the company’s quality, innovation, versatility and range – 12 000 basic products and over 700 000 variations. On display was the impressive FMS-200 training unit, a flexible automation cell that makes use of robotics, pneumatics and hydraulics combined in a system designed to allow trainees to get to grips with the various automation technologies. Other highlights included a pick and place unit used to demonstrate pneumatic technologies in the production line, a large bore cylinder weighing in excess of 170 kg and a crust breaker cylinder specially flown in from the UK for the event.
Offering service and training nationwide, machine builders and end-users can now benefit from SMC’s increased levels of quality technical support and the availability of customised products. Local production and assemblies of several lines at the company’s Johannesburg factory also ensures shorter lead times.
