EtherCAT on the fly in South Africa

November 2016 News

Technews Publishing, together with the EtherCAT Technology Group, recently organised a series of breakfast seminars across the country at exclusive venues in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban. These were sponsored by Beckhoff Automation and SA Power. Beckhoff specialises in PC-based control technology, while SA Power specialises in the automation of machinery and provides complete system solutions for a wide range of applications.

Aimed at machine builders, OEMs and system integrators, and endorsed by the SAIMC, the seminars were presented by world-renowned expert in fieldbus and Ethernet technologies, Martin Rostan, executive director of the EtherCAT Technology Group. He shared his expertise on EtherCAT technology and its applications, covering the evolution of EtherCAT and its many advantages over Ethernet, as well as practical guidelines for installation, good practice and diagnostics. The highlight was a series of practical case studies demonstrating how to make a smooth transition to EtherCAT in order to generate competitive advantage for your company.

EtherCAT is a performance breakthrough. The well proven, open technology is faster than any classical fieldbus and is easy to configure. It is Ethernet-compatible and is characterised by low cost, ease of use, outstanding diagnostic features and flexible topology. With over 3500 members from 60 countries, the EtherCAT Technology Group has become the world’s largest fieldbus organisation since it was founded in 2003.

There will be full coverage of the EtherCAT seminars in the December issue.
