Uniross returning to normality after factory fire

On the 10th of May 2016, a massive fire broke out at the premises of Uniross Batteries in Kyalami. The blaze started in the warehouse and quickly spread through the factory and offices, destroying everything in its path. Despite the best efforts of a forensic fire inspector, the cause has not been determined.

“As a battery company, unfortunately, fire is an eventuality,” said Michael Rogers, managing director of Uniross. “However, because of this high risk, Uniross has very good disaster recovery plans in place, which has allowed us to get back up and running in a very short space of time.”

Rogers stated that, although is not quite business as usual at Uniross yet, the company has taken up premises in the building next door, and all telephone lines, email, etc. are up and running again. What’s more, some stock is already on hand in the warehouse (albeit in limited quantities), in addition to stock on water which is due to arrive shortly.

“We would like to thank all our loyal customers for their genuine sympathy and support during this difficult time,” Rogers said. “It is fantastic to know that we have such supportive customers who have been willing to stand by us while we picked ourselves up after the fire. I would like to personally reassure all our customers that, contrary to rumours, we are still very much in business, and our doors are still open.”
