Siemens has launched a mobile unit equipped with a broad base of the latest instrumentation (PI) technologies. This will bring a wide spectrum of Siemens technology to its key customers so they can benefit from first hand exposure to the company’s instrumentation platforms and keep abreast of Siemens innovations. Technologies installed in the demo bus include level measurement, temperature measurement, weighing and batching systems, flow measurement, wireless Hart, pressure measurement, positioners, gas analysers, industrial communication and innovative distributed control systems.
“By interacting with our technology, customers will be able to save time and make better informed decisions on their challenges in the fields of measurement, analysis and control of industrial processes,” explains Mikhail Vakhutinskiy, head of process instrumentation, process industries and drives. “Some of the latest engineering solutions installed are the Simatic PCS7, Ultramat gas analysers, level measurement ultrasonic switches, Sitrans T temperature measurement, Siwarex WP231weighing and batching systems and integrated data networks for industrial communication.”
The PI team will also engage with its strong partner network in South Africa and across borders. The mobile unit has already been to Botswana and in the upcoming weeks will visit Middelburg for a technology day and be on show in Namibia for a major mining show. “In remote areas, for example mines, the objective is to reach out to customers who do not have regular interaction with Siemens subject matter experts. Now we can show them how our innovations can help gain a competitive advantage and bring our solutions to their doorstep,” he concludes.
