Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

Reliable shut-off and smooth media flows

April 2016 Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

Pinch valves VZQA from Festo come into their own in applications requiring smooth media flows and reliable shut-off. In many applications they are an ideal alternative to conventional valves such as diaphragm or ball valves, as they are particularly durable, energy efficient, easy to service and flexible in use thanks to their open architecture.

Whether dealing with liquid, fibrous, particulate or granular substances, they bring reliability and durability to all kinds of production processes.

Reliable flow rate

The pinch valve is available in two versions: an N/O version for media pressures from 0 to 4 bar and an N/C version for media pressures from 0 to 6 bar. A tubular elastomer pinch valve sleeve opens or shuts off the flow by decreasing or increasing operating pressure as appropriate to the version – all without any additional actuators and with no risk of blockage.

The pinch valves VZQA come with different connection caps, housing materials and sealing components for a variety of configuration options. This makes them extremely useful in optimising pneumatic delivery and metering systems, powder coating systems as well as suction and compressed air control units. At the same time, their compact design saves valuable installation space.

Advantages compared with conventional process valves

The free passage of the pinch valves minimises flow resistance, preventing the valve from becoming blocked or clogged.

Another plus is their straightforward servicing. The sealing cartridge can be quickly changed in just a few simple steps and without any special tools. The high-performance pinch valves from Festo can be cleaned quickly and easily by machine thanks to their full passage and design with very little dead space.

Energy efficiency

The pinch valve VZQA can be actuated with low operating pressures. Depending on the medium and media pressure, an operating pressure of just 0,3-1 bar is sufficient to shut off the media flow.
