The new MFH/M9H series pressure resistant sensors from ifm electronic feature an innovative operating principle. They have a pressure rating of up to 500 bar and with a one-piece metal housing are extremely robust. They offer IP65/68/69K protection rating for harsh environments and temperature stability from -25 to 120°C.
The technology relies on a MR measuring cell with a permanent magnet all in one housing, so only ferrous metals like tool steel are detected and an external magnet is not necessary. Other metals such as aluminium or stainless steel do not have any effect on the sensor. The units can be used as limit switches on hydraulic cylinders as well as on other hydraulic components like valves or pumps, in mechanical engineering and in the process industry. The MFH design offers a bursting pressure exceeding 2000 bar.
The full metal housing ensures permanent mechanical resistance to pressure fluctuations, shock and vibration. In contrast, ceramic active surfaces can be easily damaged by impacts. The high temperature stability allows the unit to maintain its full functionality both in extremely hot machines and in outdoor applications in direct sunlight. The new easy to mount sensors come with a M12 or M14 housing and offer high performance at a very attractive price.
