For hazardous areas, using intrinsically safe instruments not only ensures compliance with regulations, but more importantly, that your safety is maintained at all times. With no physical contact, handheld thermometers measure surface temperature using infrared technology by simply pointing the instrument at the target area, squeezing the trigger and displaying the temperature.
After time, temperature is the second most measured physical unit. In production as well as in quality control and maintenance, temperature represents an important indicator of product quality or equipment conditions.
Raytek has been supplying the southern African market with portable and on-line IR thermometers for over 15 years, which are still available today in their familiar grey and black colours.
The new MT4IS, ST61IS and ST81IS have been certified locally by SANAS and comply with the local regulations as outlined below:
• R&C Instrumentation contracted the services of MASC, a local inspection authority, to assist with the development and certification of the Raytek ST61-IS, ST81-IS and MT-4IS models.
• Adaptation of the standard ST61 and ST81 models to Ex Rating Ex ib I/IIA T4 along with the MT4IS to Ex Rating Ex ia I/IIC T4 is done at the Modderfontein workshop where a strict quality control programme is adhered to.
