Wireless system increases electrical safety on the plant – launch of Delta T Alert at AAF 2015
1 May 2015
News
One of the highlights this year is the launch by R&C Instrumentation of the Delta T system from IRISS. This wireless sensor platform is designed to monitor critical electrical enclosures in a facility to complement existing electrical maintenance programmes. If a critical issue is detected, immediate notification allows for appropriate corrective action, before costly damage occurs.
R&C Instrumentation’s Steve Edwards says that the system warnings that Delta T Alert provides allow maintenance technicians to be alerted immediately an elevated enclosure temperature is detected. This gives maintenance personnel a safety advantage prior to any maintenance or troubleshooting activities being initiated.
“Delta T Alert is a self-contained temperature-monitoring sensor that attaches to an electrical enclosure cover,” explains Edwards. “The unit is simple to install and comprises two temperature sensors – one to monitor the electrical enclosure’s interior temperatures and the second to monitor the room’s ambient temperature. An alert is triggered based on the relationship between the two.”
For those with plant safety and maintenance on their agenda, this new system might well be worth a look on R&C Instrumentation’s stand B18.
