Intelligent distance sensors with Ethernet, EtherCAT and Profinet

Wenglor has enhanced its OCP range of high performance distance sensors and all four models are now equipped with EtherCAT and EtherNet protocols in addition to ProfiNet. With the associated switches and junctions, the sensors provide consistent communication right down to field level.

The OCP product range, equipped with RS-232 or ProfiNet as standard, and with the addition of the real-time EtherCAT protocol and the power over Ethernet (PoE) and distributed clock technology, will be transformed into a genuine expert in industrial communication. The time-stamp function is important when spatially distributed processes are coordinated with each other and precise synchronisation of all Ethernet users is required.

The EtherCAT protocol has been an international standard since 2007 and supports nearly all types of topologies due to its minimal wiring requirements. Transmissions of large amounts of data and short cycle times are two of the protocol’s impressive strengths. The EtherNet/IP interface is just as useful and controls around 33% of the worldwide protocol market.

The distance sensors are available in a compact housing measuring 50 x 50 x 30 mm and have IP65 protection.
