ART Solar ensures quality through staff training
June 2013
News
ART Solar, South Africa’s photovoltaic solar panel manufacturing company, has implemented a training programme for staff and module installers. The manufacturing staff recently completed a three month training programme run by Swiss and Dutch PV experts. This intensive training ensures every step in the quality control of producing PV panels is in accordance with international standards.
“Everyone at the factory is proud to work for an environmentally-friendly company that is doing so much good in South Africa,” says Brendah Zama Mkhize, operator and forklift driver. “ART Solar is helping people to get electricity and is providing employment in the community. This was a good opportunity to get training by international experts and we learned from the Swiss and Dutch cultures of managing people, which focuses more on understanding each process, instead of just pushing buttons to run the machines. We have been taught about the importance of taking responsibility for our work and now this training has made us a much closer team.
“We work in a quiet, clean, healthy and safe plant and the training we have had ensures that the quality of our production is as good as it is anywhere else in the world.”
ART Solar uses the latest PV technology to convert solar energy to electricity. Modules, which are easy to install and require little maintenance, have an estimated 40-year lifetime.
