ATI receives accreditation for instrumentation and rigging courses
April 2013
News
Black empowered Artisan Training Institute (ATI) has announced that it has received accreditation from the Mining Qualifications Authority for its instrumentation and rigging trades, which were officially launched in the fourth quarter of last year. ATI, a level 1 BEE contributor, and one of the largest privately owned artisan training academies in South Africa, has invested R4,5 million in setting up these two disciplines.
Sean Jones.
According to CEO Sean Jones, the launch of the two new trades had been extremely successful and that there had been strong demand from the market for training in these two disciplines. He said the academy, situated just outside Soweto, is almost fully booked for the year.
Other training centres at Crown Mines, Johannesburg and Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal, are currently operating at near 100% capacity. ATI offers a wide range of artisan training courses, including courses for fitters and turners, jig and dye makers, electricians, millwrights, welders, boilermakers, sheet metal workers, petrol and diesel mechanics, tractor mechanics, forklift mechanics, auto electricians and earth moving equipment mechanics. ATI’s clients include John Deere, Lonmin, Komatsu, Liebherr along with a host of other mining, manufacturing and engineering operations.
