Airless lubrication for food processing chain system
February 2013Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration
ChainLube is a new airless system that provides a food-safe, easy to use solution for accurate and automatic chain lubrication in the food and beverage industry, without the need for compressed air. This reduces the risk of potential food contamination from oil mist and oil evaporation in high temperature applications. The system can withstand nozzle-area temperatures of –40 to +220°C. The system is best suited for lubrication of parallel chains with speed below 3 pitches/sec in applications such as baking ovens, dryers, proofers, freezers or conveyors in wet areas.
“The SKF ChainLube system will help our customers improve the reliability of their chain systems while supporting their HACCP processes. With only two parameters to set, it is designed to be easy to set up and use. The new lubrication system also helps them reduce their food graded lubricants consumption,” says Jean-Christophe Brossard, SKF F&B global segment manager.
The ChainLube has a volumetric piston pump and a control unit that enable pitch-by-pitch delivery of accurately metered lubricant volumes at preferred intervals. Projection nozzles, which have no mechanical contact with the chains, prevent dirt accumulation and applicator wear.
The ChainLube consists of stainless steel components – tubing, nozzles, sensor and fixing supports – plus a hygienic, IP65 rated unit design that make this lubrication system suitable for food and beverage industry requirements. All of these components are delivered as a kit and are simple to install.
