Level Measurement & Control

Switch-point level control sensor

January 2017 Level Measurement & Control

The TAG level switch functions in all kinds of materials, conductive as well as non-conductive fluids, grains, powders, plastic raw materials, oils and fuels, water and sewage etc.

The function of the sensing unit is not hampered by material sticking to it and is also not influenced by relative humidity of the environment. It does not require maintenance and has an unlimited life span after initial fitting. After adjustment to working conditions for the particular product being sensed for contamination, no further adjustment is required. Units can be designed to fit any requirement and are also available in a ‘Fail Safe’ version.

Principle of operation

Changes of RF current, voltage, loss of energy and changes of dielectric constant versus air are sensed by the feeler through the mass of the material to the ground point of the sensing unit. This causes RF energy losses. The variations of RF current transformed to DC and then reach the control box where an amplifier activates the relay. The set will continue to work even when the feeler is completely covered by the product.

VEGA Controls SA Level Measurement & Control
Level measurement in LNG and LPG processes is about answering the simple question: “How much product is in the tank?” However, obtaining an exact value is not easy. The products are often under pressure, cryogenic, and highly explosive. Sensors from Vega have been operating successfully in all stages of the LNG/LPG process for many years.
