For many years, pinch valves from Schubert & Salzer Control Systems have proved to be superior when working with difficult media or under sterile conditions. In sizes ranging from DN 15 to DN 50, these valves have made possible the reliable shut off and control of fluids with granular and abrasive particles as well as viscous, pasty and aggressive media.
Schubert & Salzer have fundamentally re-engineered this series and is now introducing the new 7078 pinch valves and 7079 pinch control valves. The key improvements are:
• Compact construction with rotating piston actuator.
• FDA-compliant seal for hygienic applications.
• Working pressures up to 6 bar.
Together with a collet and union nut, a new type of fastener provides a fast, secure and permanently drop-tight connection between the pinch valve and optional connections with a female thread, welding ends, Tri-Clamp or even adhesive sockets.
In these compact pinch valves, the reduction in cross section is brought about by a plunger acting on one side only. Previously, a sleeve section made specially to fit into the cross section had to be used for this. Now, for the first time, this change in cross section is achieved by a new body design rather than requiring a specially moulded sleeve. This has resulted in a substantial improvement in the flow coefficients. In the new series, depending on the size, these can be up to 50% above the Kvs coefficients of the previous series. Another consequence of this design optimisation shows up in a significant extension to the service life of the sleeves. The previously achievable cycles of several 100 000 can now be doubled on average – depending on the sleeve material and its diameter.
Hand wheels and piston actuators (optional with pilot valve) powered by air, water, mineral oil and other media for operating the pinch valves are still available. In the 7079 version, the pinch control valve is combined with a top-mounted, integrated pneumatic, electro-pneumatic or digital positioner for very precise control tasks.

Valves, Actuators & Pump Control
Little consideration is generally given to two-port valves because they are often perceived as simple devices that only open and close to control downstream fluid supply. Although this is mechanically true, choosing the optimal two-port valve for your application can make a big difference, saving space, weight and energy consumption.
